Ceramics in Year 5
Year Five have been looking at the work of local designer and craftsman William Morris, in conjunction with their topic on the Victorians. They went through the design process of exploring materials, drawing natural forms from observation and reviewing and adapting their designs before making these ceramic tiles.
Whilst refining their designs they thought about the links and differences between representational and stylised drawing.
When they came to paint they planned ahead to make sure they put down lighter colours first and darker ones on top. They used their knowledge of colour theory to mix all the colours from the three primary colours.
The ceramics are on display on the ground floor of Bridge site.
