11 before 11
What is 11 Before 11?
11B411 is 11 lifetime experiences that we want all the children to have by the time they leave primary school. It gives the children a chance to enjoy different experiences which they may have never tried before.

Why 11 Before 11?
Life is an adventure – and school should be one, too!
It is essential that our children can read, write and calculate to the expected level for their age, but here at Woodside, school has always been about so much more: The whole child is the whole point.
Think back – what do you remember about your primary school days? Was it phonics lessons or learning how to do long division? Or was it a brilliant school trip where you camped under the stars? Or built a raft and crossed a lake? Or built and launched rockets from the playground?
These opportunities beyond the classroom – the memorable experiences that you just never forget – happen in every school. What’s different here at Woodside is that we have curated a set of promises that EVERY pupil is entitled to.
We are ambitious for our children to have broad horizons and high aspirations. We want our pupils to be inspired and challenged so that each one develops their unique potential to the full.
11 Before 11 takes our children beyond the usual, to explore new opportunities and inspire them to be the heroes of their own adventure. We are incredibly proud of 11B411. We know the impact that it has had so far, and will continue to invest in delivering on our promises, so that every child’s school experience is exceptional and memorable for all the right reasons.
Year 1 will be creating bird boxes and building bug hotels.
Year 2 will be pond dipping to find out what lies beneath the water.
Year 3 will take part in a flash mob on a special day. It’s a surprise!
Year 4 children will take part in horse care and horse riding at a special riding school.
All Woodside Children will take part in setting a Woodside Record. More details will be announced soon.
All Woodside Children in their Year Group will do a good deed to support the children in the school or the wider community.
We believe that it is not only important to provide exciting experiences within the school but to also explore the wider world, in particular the London area, to enhance children's broader learning. 11 b4 11 are eleven important experiences for children to benefit from before they leave primary school at the age of 11. We recognise that these can represent extra expense and we fundraise enthusiastically to support parents with the cost of all these experiences.
Some of these experiences include:
Ride a Large Animal
As part of our ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ topic from the Spring Term we took all Year 4 pupils on an incredible day trip to Aldersbrook Horse Riding School and Stables.
The experience consisted of a 30 minute introduction to horse stables and care, 30 minutes of horse riding, 30 minutes in which the children were taught how to groom and care for the horses and 30 minutes of being a stable hand by mucking out the stables.
By the end of the experience children had grown a respect for animals and how to treat them. They had been encouraged to try something new which enhanced children's confidence and they had developed a sense of responsibility by learning to pack away equipment, clean down the animal and act safely around the animal.
Lion King Theatre Experience
This experience allows children to go into the City of London and see a well-known theatre production. Children get to be a part of an audience with other members of the public. By providing this experience to children it broadens children’s perception outside their local community.
A Trip to the Seaside
The children get to explore the seaside and are given the opportunity to play in the sea, dig for shells, explore seaside wildlife such as crabs and have a picnic.
