Admissions
Admissions for Reception and Nursery
Welcome to Woodside Primary Academy, where our priority is the well-being and progress of every child. We have worked hard to develop an atmosphere of trust, happiness, and achievement here at the school, to ensure that your child feels cared for and supported on their educational journey. Ofsted recognise the excellent work in the areas above and have graded us as Outstanding in all areas of education (July 2023).
Since our Ofsted Inspection, we have made significant efforts to enhance the range of engaging opportunities available to all students. We have successfully implemented a variety of exceptional afterschool clubs, including Spanish, Origami, Multi sports, Dance, Drumming, Music Technology, and more. Each term, children have the option to participate in two clubs of their choice. Additionally, we have established partnerships with external clubs such as Karate, all about Dance, and WO Sports, enabling us to offer extracurricular activities at affordable rates.
Welcome to all the children and families who will start with us next September 2026.
You can apply for a place in September, the year before they are due to start reception. This year's application window runs from 1 September 2025 until 11.59pm on 15 January 2026. It’s important to apply as soon as you can.
If your child attends Woodside nursery or has an older brother or sister at school, you must still apply. Children who go to a school nursery will not automatically receive a reception place at the school.

Consultation on The Woodside Primary Academy’s admissions arrangements 27/28
Public Consultation on Admissions Arrangements for The Woodside Primary Academy: 2027/2028
REAch2 Academy Trust (the Trust), as the designated admission authority for all its academies (schools) in accordance with the School Admissions Code 2021, is undertaking a statutory consultation on the proposed admission arrangements for The Woodside Primary Academy. The Trust is committed to ensuring that all arrangements comply fully with the Admissions Code 2021and relevant legislation, including the Equality Act 2010.
On 22 October 2025, the Trust Board approved a reduction in The Woodside Primary Academy’s Published Admission Number (PAN) from 180 places (6 forms of entry) to 150 places (5 forms of entry). This proposal reflects demographic changes and a sustained decrease in demand for school places within the local area.
The Trust has engaged with the Local Authority, which supports this proposal based on its own data indicating a continuing surplus (additional) of primary school places in the locality for the foreseeable future.
This consultation seeks the views of stakeholders on the proposed reduction in PAN and the associated admission arrangements for the academic year 2027/2028.
You can find the proposed school policy for 2027/2028 by visiting: www.reach2.org/admissions.
The consultation will run from 17th November 2025 to 16th January 2026.
We welcome feedback from all stakeholders on the proposed arrangements. Responses to the consultation may be placed by any of the following means:
- By email admissionsconsultation@reach2.org
- Complete the e-form at www.reach2.org/admissions
- By post Admissions Consultation, REAch2 Academy Trust, C/O Henhurst Ridge Primary Academy, Henhurst Ridge, Burton Upon Trent, DE13 9TQ
We thank you for your participation in the consultation process and look forward to hearing from you.
