As a school, we believe in offering a deeply broad and exciting range of experiences for our children. These experiences happen in the classroom, before school, after school, on our Friday Enrichment afternoons and through various inter-school competitions.
On Friday, we finish our school day between 12:45pm and 1:00pm. It provides the school with an opportunity to further develop our enrichment programme and other learning opportunities for all pupils across the year.
As a school we believe these enrichment opportunities have more impact in smaller groups, than the traditional 30 pupils per class.
To ensure we are able to provide these high impact experiences, we will provide approximately 300 places per term. This means that every child will have the opportunity to participate in one term’s enrichment opportunities.
If you are a working parent, you will not be disrupted by the earlier finishing time, as we will host tuition afternoons that will finish at the old school times.
We are fortunate to be able to provide specialist teachers who offer in our Friday afternoon programme:
Kids Adventure Sports:
- Martial Arts
- Roller Skating
Dance Specialism include:
- Street Dance
Amongst other activities.
Pupil Community Partnerships
At Woodside, we believe that children should understand the importance of giving back to their society, so we provide that opportunity through our Community Support Heroes (as seen on BBC London).
A group of our Year 4 – 6 pupils visit and engage with the elderly people in our local community where the children play games, have tea and chat to some of our local residents.
To compliment this, our pupils in Year 1 – 3 work in partnership with Brookfield House (our local Special Educational Needs and Disabilities school). Their pupils and ours meet every Friday afternoon and through art and cooking sessions they develop wonderful friendships over the term.
