Woodside
Primary Academy

Welcome

Welcome to Woodside Primary Academy, where our priority is the well-being and progress of every child. We have worked hard to develop an atmosphere of trust, happiness and achievement here at the school, to ensure that your child feels cared for and supported on their educational journey. Ofsted recognise the excellent work in the areas above and have graded us as Outstanding in all areas of education (July 2016).

We strive to meet the needs of individual children and support them in becoming enthusiastic and successful learners, ambitious and creative dreamers, and ethical and responsible members of society. With this in mind, we have the ‘Seven Life Values’ which we believe are essential for our children to be successful, not only while they are with us, but also after they leave Woodside. Our values are: Respect, Responsibility, Independence, Kindness, Confidence, Honesty and Determination.

In 2014-15 the school progressed significantly in many areas. Our Year 6 students’ results bettered last year’s achievement, demonstrating that pupils leave Woodside ahead of their peers in comparison to the National Average. The majority of our pupils made at least good progress in all subjects. We have further developed our playgrounds to include two Muga courts (artificial sports pitches), performance stages and a new state of the art climbing frame. Our Arts department enjoyed many successes, culminating with the Year 6 production and the school exhibiting some impressive art work during the E17 Arts Trail. Woodside was also one of the leading schools in sport, with the school claiming numerous first places in various competitions.

Our dedicated teaching and support staff work together to create a stimulating learning environment for our pupils, encouraging them to become active participants in their own, unique learning journeys. Our imaginative ‘themed classrooms’ allow pupils to write, read and investigate in real context environments. Fostering creativity and independent learning, these engaging and fun environments help children learn and make sure that curriculum topics resonate, and that children can build a holistic understanding of the world around them while making their way through the curriculum.

Thank you for taking the time to have a look at our website.  We warmly invite you to visit us here at Woodside, where I’d be more than happy to show you around so you can see the great qualities that set our school apart.

Best wishes,
